First of all, I’d like to thank everyone that came out to our two shows this weekend. The Ash St Saloon performance was seriously my favorite show our band has played yet. But then we performed at Kelly’s Olympian last night and THAT became my new favorite show. I still cannot believe how many people made it out last night! It was so much fun!
Oct 8th, Ash St Saloon
Friday night at Ash St, we had Honey Wars, Opie and Simple Trick & Nonsense start off the show. Each of these bands are just AMAZING. Honey Wars, started the show off with some great melodic folk rock. I absolutely loved just getting to sit and listen to them. Opie had a zany rockabilly-punkish sound. The frontman was great at getting the crowd into it! Simple Tricks and Nonsense had some great tunes as well. Their female singer/keyboard player is soo tall! And she has an amazing voice! They ended their set with a great cover of Dear Mister Fantasy. I can only hope we get to perform with any of these bands again!
The Friday night gig was our first to feature Jerry Fasching on guitar. Although he only performed 5 songs with us, he brought a great energy to the band. Having him there also gave me the chance to put down my guitar for a few songs and focus on singing and making a fool of myself on stage.
The crowd at the Ash St. Saloon show demanded an encore, so we performed our rendition of Crazy Train! I just love being able to get some use out of the vibraslap I bought specifically for this song!
Monday Oct 11th, Kelly’s Olympian
Last night, Idol’s Diatribe started off the show. This two-piece band played from the heart with some intense passion and the guitar player had some crazy melodic progressions going on! Reeds Mill Investigation performed after us. Scremo is still alive and this band proves it! The whole band was animated and you could tell they were having a blast. Super tight changes. Very hard hitting! Sounded like a band you might hear at Warped Tour! If you are into thrash, scremo or emo, you will dig this band!
Jerry gave his second amazing performance with us! He seemed to be having a blast! I love having him on stage with me. I previously performed in the bands T.O.B. and DERP with Jerry and know that he is a talented musician with a heart of gold. Looking forward to playing a whole set with this guy!
I finally got my Marshall head out of the shop. It has had a history of crackling and going out during practice, but last night it sounded like a dream. My Les Paul guitar was always meant to be plugged into a Marshall. Love it.
Well, I just wanted to update everyone about our latest shows. Thanks again to everyone that comes out to see us! Personally, I perform better when I feel free to make a fool out of myself in front of people I know. I heart you soooo frign much.
